Few years back, my 530i was just few months from new, my then gf said "Thats a beauty!! I love it, can I drive" (the answer to the latter was of course 'no'), anyway, later in the year when we parted our ways, I had a long big key scrath on the passenger front & rear door one day, although I couldn't prove it was her, I think she hated the car.

Dam for a $100k in the US, Id be driving a M5. Wouldnt it be cheaper to buy one here and import it. or the regulationso n that too strict??????
I actually paid $115k after regn and taxes....Importing one turns out much more exp as the duty is over 115%, there are some illegal ways to save a bit on those duties but its not worth the risk.

I had a situation yesterday where the compliments could have back-fired -- we had a potential customer visiting and saw their eyes buldging when they saw my (company) car in the carpark... we were all leaving at the same time, so I had to head towards a group of more standard looking cars (Fords & VWs) and pretend mine was parked amongst them, I then phoned someone whilst standing near the cars and waited until the potential customer had driven out of the car park and didn't see which car I actually was going to get in to!!

It still was nice seeing them admire the car, but a shame that I had to pretend it wasn't mine... C'est la vie!
I used to drive a pre-owned 7 series. It was a gorgeous car - mint condition, even if it was 5 years old. I only paid $36k for it at the time. I used to have lots of people always joking & asking how I could afford such a car - it was always funny when it came from people in new Volvos or Acuras who I knew paid quite a bit more for their car than I paid for mine.

The best story was that I had a lawyer (who was against me in a case) start ragging on me after court one day when our cars were parked side by side. He was getting in a new Tahoe, giving me a hard time about being a wealthy plaintiff's lawyer. I just smiled thinking "wow...you just paid $10k more for that Chevy truck that I did, and you think I'm super wealthy". It was amusing.

Even now with the 550i, some of my staff members have commented that their friends (who come by the office for lunch & whatnot) always marvel at my car and ask who is belongs too.

Its very flattering.

So when we drive around in our E60s, do people stop or say something to you about your car? What do they usually say?

I am curious to know!
It depends on the neighborhood I'm in, these are some of the things I'e heard:

"You the man"
"Que bonito carro"
"Nice car"
"Nice ride dude"

Best ever compliment for me was when a Brabus tuned W211 owner scrambled with his mobile to take a photo of my humble E60 whilst I overtook his on a highway Makes my day every time I think of it
