Does the Satellite Radio and HD Radio for the US specs, work in Germany?
What do they do?
I'm buying a US spec. e60 and I would like to know if I can use the Satellite Radio and HD Radio in Germany/Europe?
Anyone know the answer?

No it won't work. No coverage in Europe. On the other hand, there's DAB.
What is DAB?

The problem is, that the satellites for the satellite radio are behind the horizon. So you can't use it in EU.
For DAB you need a special radio/tuner.

The more subtle question is how (if at all) compatible are HD and DAB radio?
i.e. Can DAB be received on an HD tuner, or are the standards entirely incompatible?

I don't know if the standards are compatible but I'd think they are.
Anyways, the main problem is, that DAB is not available everywhere in the EU. In Germany we just started it and it is very hard to get a signal.
German site about DAB where you can find out when there will be DAB and where excactly you can get the signal...
EDIT: I've just checked the site and it seems that there is no coverage problem anmore in Germany, but when you click on the list of available stations you'll find out there are not many, and they are also available via regular FM...

HD is digital, DAB is digital too.
I don't know if the standards are compatible but I'd think they are.

DAB, here in UK for four or five years, has many stations but comparatively few listeners.

From Wikipedia:
"The acronym DAB is used both to identify the generic technology of digital audio broadcasting, and specific technical standards, particularly the Eureka 147 standard described below. Standardization of DAB technology is promoted by the World DAB Forum, which represents more than 30 countries (but excludes the United States, which has opted for a proprietary system called HD Radio or IBOC)."
So no go for HD Radio receiver in EU.
