I am thinking of changing my transmission fluid, filter, water pump and thermostat as preventive maintenance on my e60 with 81,000 miles.
The car will need to be on four jack stands. For safety purpose, do I need to buy four jack pad adapters ($34 each???) or will buying four back stands be sufficient? I am not sure if the adapters can still fit since all four pads are already damaged when I lifted the car up with the hydraulic jack without the pad adapter. lol
Thanks for your inputs!

It would certanly be an added safety measure to insure they fit securly in the jack positioning holes under the car.
However, my standard jack stand fit well enough under there and I've never used the adapters. I've never had a problem with it, but if you want to be 100% secure, probably a good idea.

Ceenit,
Have you actually used four jack stands "at the same time" without the pad adapters? Or did you use two rhino ramps and two jack stands?
Thanks for the response!

Ramps along with two 3 ton jack stands is what I use.
Good decision on being proactive and doing the preventative maintenance.

This jack pad adapter's snug fit allows it to be suspended by the tension from the silicone plugs until you can position your floor jack beneath the adapter. The other one is PITA to use.
