I just copied them off my receipt without noticing that
I bought a set for $150 they work great if you want to know the part numbers for your car go to this web site and you can put in the last 7 digits of your body number and then find any part number you want for your car RealOEM.com - Select Your BMW Model but you can just buy a set of ebay which is easy remember when you do it to tighten the bushes under load or you will ruin the bushes real fast my friend didnt do it and he had to do it again 6 months later Its a real easy fix so dont be worried about it |
Alright I think I figured it out -- I know which parts to buy... As far as loading the suspension, how far should I jack the car up to ensure that the suspension is properly "loaded"

Can you explain the best way to load the suspension? Can I use a jack under the front wheel and compress the shock/spring all the way? How did you do it?
Lower the jack to decompress the suspension again, and remove the jack. |
I have done it two ways
When the car was on stands and the control arms are fitted you can jack the car up with the two bolts going through your bushes lose under your hub or ball joint Jack the car till the pressure just releases of the jack( just) and then do both bolts up tight But don't over jack it as already written The other way is to put the car back on its wheels or car ramps and lay under the car and do them up under normal conditions One other point is your ball joints They have a hex fitting in the top It is important that when you tighten the joint up to always use a hex tool as you can otherwise twist the ball joint rubber and tear it if you don't |

Would this suffice for both front axle control arms?
BMW Front Lower Control Arm Kit Left & Right Premium HD E60 (4pcs) | eBay Or this? Which includes the 4 control arms + sway bar links? BMW E60 525i 530i 545i 550i NEW 6 Front Control Arm Sway Bar Link 31126774825/81 | eBay Of course it would be nice to replace the swaybar links at the same time they go from your sway bar ends to a bracket connected onto your strut mount The sway bar links maybe okay but if you want a really nice job i would do it all at the same time I think it was suggested before to also replace your sway bar rubbers Ill look for a link to show you |

Mileage is about 155k. I doubt they've been done before. I've owned the car 3 months and have done several major repairs including transmission servicing (fluid, pan/filter), disa valve rebuild, and VANOS seals replacement.
I'm in the process of trying to sell the car so the cheapest fix for the clunking would be ideal. I had a buyer back out today for that reason. |
