i ve had my car for over 6month now and its the first time that i fill my tank fully. The km indicator marker 540km.as i took on the highway, the indicator kept increasing to reach 600km.
I drove 40km on the highway, going 6th gear 120km/h steady. The road was empty.
So is it normal for my 520 to do that.was my indicator adjusting to the right mileage?or is there something wrong with the computer?
Any comment is appreciated.
Tomo will post pic of my indicator writting 600km.i know it is theoretical but 600km is wayyy high for such a figure.

The distance is calculated according to how the car is being driven prior to the fill up and then continuously recalculated as you were driving on the highway. So the astronomical number was just based on your car being driven at it's most efficient time, as soon as you add a bit of stop and go driving, the number WILL plummet down to more recognizable numbers. Though it would be nice if our cars DID get that kind of mileage!

We all know BMW can get better mileage than a prius.

My Ride: MY2004 530d. Poverty spec
520i doing constant highway speeds should manage 600km (375miles) on full tank, I would think - that's only around 26mpg (assuming tank is 14 gallons or so). In fact that seems low to me.
My 530d consistently does 600 miles (960km) on a tank, although I have, just once, seen 799 miles on the range. Couldn't nurse it over the 800, dammit. But never, ever, get as much as just-after-fillup display suggests. I usually get 700 miles or so displayed just after fill. Worst I've done on a tank is 540, best is 620. Pretty consistent. I believe the range indicator uses a moving average of consumption for about the last 20 miles.

My old '07 530xi got 30.1MPG on the highway, on cruise control set at 73mph (meaning actually 70mph). This was a trip I took from Pittsburgh to Philly (300 miles) at 1AM and an empty turnpike for almost the entire way. I still had a quarter tank left when I got there. I was shocked at how good it was!
