They'll have the 255hp and adaptive headlights then?
Again, run the VIN # -- you should for any used car of course -- and if it's listed as a 2006 then it will have the more powerful magnesium blocked I6. As far as the press and reviews were concerned for marketing reasons the new engine was the major change between the two model years and BMW would not have had a partial year with the old engine. And if it has that, it should have the adaptive headlights as well. Mine does ...

For quick reference though the two engines don't look alike at all because of different covers! Here's a photo of the 04-05 530i engine on top followed by the gray covered 06 & 07 model:

Hope this solves the mystery for you!

Just wonder, is it possible to upgrade 2005, 530i with fob keys, start button and keyless entry
Does anybody passed it?

Oh... So does that mean the 2006 530i's without the fob key will have the 255hp as well as the adaptive headlights as published in the brochure?

Yes, I have a 06 530 with 255hp and adaptive headlights along with whole lot of other options.. check my signatures. I have a regular key. production date: July/05

I'm not sure if you can convert it to the push button and the fob. allot will need to be done to gain very little to nothing for a good sum of money. If you are getting all the other options that you are looking for, then go for it. If you can wait then look for the one with the later production date that comes with the key fob/push button rather than trying to retrofit one. life will be much easier. For me, I got everything else that I wanted (including the HUD) but it did not have the key fob, although it would have been nice, but I can live without it with all the other bells and whistles, I'm still enjoying the ride

My '06 has a build date of 04/2005. Key style ignition, adaptive xenons, and the 255 mind-numbing horsepower straight six. It's all I ever wanted...

I am driving 530 Individual and it is full, except key fob. When I was ordered it, that was not available : (

So the "newer" 530i's have less power? How much HP do they have?

BTW: I have a 2006 530i with xenons and regular key style ignition. My old 2006 330i had the push button ignition.

My 2006 has a build date of 6/2005 with the regular key...Check the engine code...should be N52 which is the new 255hp I-6

Mine has the adaptive headlights as well...but you will likely also get the 6.5" idrive screen, no the larger 8.8" In most instances, bigger is better, but the 6.5" is fine... Please no jokes on the length...

Seems like no one was thinking to upgrade key ignition style
