DIY Oil Change Question

I get my filter and oil changed and they top off all the fluids at the dealer, JMK BMW, when they run their special for $69.95 + tax. IMO it doesn't pay to do it yourself at that price. Good luck

My local had a special for $ 79.99...was thinking of bringing it in but at the end decided to do it myself since it gives me the satisfaction of being able to take care of my E60, and doing it correctly, especially when I'm able to sit and wait for every drop of oil to drip from the pan.

Quick question for those who have the V-8, how many quarts of oil are required? I used 7 and after awhile I drive advised me that oil level was low and recommended for another quart. So was almost 8 quarts of oil were used which was a bit much IMO.

The owners manual, on page 230 under "Capacities", states 8.5 quarts.
