Went in for an oil change and talked with the Dinan guy about the S1 Signature Package for my 550. He couldn't do better than the cost on the Dinan website $6266.80. Counting about 20hrs installation (website says 19.4), he was going to charge me $2500 to install but he knocked it down to $2000. Total $8266.80. Worth it?

not in my opinion but there are many Dinan followers. for that kind of money, i would get the rpi scoops, BMC Drop in filter, RPIexhaust, and a VF supercharger. You'll kill the Dinan s1 package. Of course the VF isn't out yet, but will be released soon.

But if you've got your heart set on the Dinan S1, depending where you live, you can usually get a much better price elsewhere. IE: Frankfurt Autohaus in Murrietta springs, ca. You might want to list where you are located

You could sell your car take that $8,000 and get a 06 M5.

For that much money, you better be gaining over a 100+hp....What do they claim the gain is?

my thoughts exactly!! Why drop so much into what you currently have when if you just save, sell your current ride and upgrade. Hence why i dont want to drop thousands more into a kit, lci tails, coilovers, and performance mods. I do want to do them but my brain says wait and get a better car when the time is right. 8k for what your getting is a lopsided figure.

8k is a lot for an upgrade to you car although you do get a great hp gain and improved suspension which improves handling and looks. Dinan has always been known as very expensive upgrade, but it has also always been known as a company that continually delivers performance. If you have the money I think it would be an incredible upgrade to get.

If you have the money, go for it. I have the Dinan S-package on my 545i and don't regret my choice whatsoever.
As a matter of fact, BMW service reprogrammed my iDrive which overwrote my Dinan tune on Thursday 6/25, Dinan re-programmed it for me (free of charge of course) on Friday morning 6/26, within an hour. I was home by 9:30 am and by 10:00 am, I was on my way to Great America for a day of fun with my family.
My point here is that Dinan's support of their customers and products is awesome - reliability is one of the best luxuries you can have and Dinan's products and support are absolutely reliable.

Also, for the time that my car did not have the tune (from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning), the lack of Dinan Stage 2 was very noticeable to me, thus re-affirming me that I made the right choice. For sure, there are other great tuners out there as well, but again - support, convenience of Dinan location, refinement of non-OEM tune, etc. are things to consider as well.

Bottom line, you're paying for quality products, ongoing support and peace of mind. If you got 8k to spend on it, then why not do it?
