May I ask how you got from business to prof nav, and what year and model you have? I've been quoted between ?1,250 and ?2,500 for this upgrade as it involves swapping my M-ASK control unit for the more powerful CCC unit with the wide screen.
Thanks.
Thanks.
yes you do need to upgrade, here is the list of what i had to buy to do the retrofit (it was very easy, almost plug and play, and i did not need coding..everything worked from the start apart from the PDC)
8.8 screen (widescreen)
CCC drive
trim for the CCC
high i-drive
fan wiring harness
voice recognition harness
LVDS cable
trim to replace the cubby hole above ash tray
microphone
sat nav ariel
dvd disc nav maps.
all from e-bay
took 3 hours to fit (longest time was the high i-drive, as the centre console has to come out)
i also have 2 compleate sets of the above for sale (everything listed) for ?1250.
i bought 1 set and then won one on e-bay, and then got offered another in exchange for some other merc nav parts...so im now the nav man

ok, i bought a 530d auto 2004 that was a almost standard car, it had no nav...cloth seats etc, but i knew the car and owner/history, so i got it for a very good price, i then added M5 full leather heated seats, M sport steering wheel, and the business nav ....then after a short engagement i got married to the E60..and got professional nav for her.

obviously its ?1250 each, and if you can change a light bulb...then you can fit pro nav, why pay some one to do such an easy job?
i only used
1 philips screwdriver
2 different size star drives
10mm spanner (rear 2 nuts centre console)
6mm spanner
thats it, every thing is plug in.
when i fitted the same for my mates 535d it only took 1 & half hours (now i know the short cuts...like propping up the centre console and accessing the i-drive star bolts from the passenger footwell whilst upside down )

Will the job be any easier or more difficult if the existing car has Business Nav? Will I be needing all the parts listed above? And coding?
cheers

yes you will need everything listed above,
and if you dont have PDC, you might not need coding, but if you do its only approx ?125
then sell your business nav on ebay to someone who has no nav
good luck.

I'm new on here too,
I got nav with the big screen but I don't think it's 3D, is it only on LCI cars and if so can it be upgraded with simple s/w upgrade?
