I checked the archieves to see what posts might exist, but didnt see any, so here goes...

Is there any difference (other than cosmetic) between the manual transmission in the 2004-2007 e60 and the LCI manual transmission? I see from photos that the gear shifter is different, but is it a shorter throw, or are there any other mechanical changes?

I'd be curious to hear more specifics from anyone who has owned both...more than just "its better". LOL...

Thanks, as always.

Per Realoem the transmissions are the same part number. Definitely not a short shifter. My 535i 6MT as far as feel and operation is the same as my E90 330i 6MT was.

the shift lever itself was shortened 03/05 onwards. after that the only other difference is the shorter shift knob. The lever is $53, the knob can be sourced online for about $60.
