Any news on BMW coming with Diesel to the US?
MB seems to launch a large offensive in the fall.

I thought it was compulsory to have 16 wheels before you could buy diesel in the US

Normally the US gets the better deal, frankly your all missing on some great engines by BMW not offering them there although it must be down to diesel fuel availability and emissions laws particularly in California.

I would have ordered a diesel if it was available in US. I think current diesel technology, along with the low sulphur fuel, is a much better solution than most of the hybrids on the market today.

The problem with diesels in the US is that thier emmision laws are very night on NOx.

In europe the pressure is on reducing C02, so eurpean diesel technology gets CO2 down but does not reduce NOx enough for US, especially California.

MB with It's new diesels thinks it has cracked it, BMW will no doubt follow, but the problem is building them for two very different emmision regimes.

As far as gas prices - I still pay 50% more than 2 years ago. That is a chunk.

Don't just blame CA - NY has the same standards. NY + CA probably equal close to 50% of BMWNA sales. I am surprised that MB finds it worth it.

For me, its more the driving. I drove a 530 d in germany and it was more fun than my 545i. The torque at low rpms is absolutely amazing.

so you wouldn't recommend trading in my 535d for a 550i?
