I upgraded to CIP 20.xx a couple weeks ago. My SA wan't sure if the latest version will work with MP3 or not.

But I told him it will work and ask him to upgrade it anyway. He did and I have MP3 playback now.

I have a 2005 545i which I took delivery on Nov. 8 2004.

I got 1 software update already.... so I now have 18.1

Can anyone tell me if I can get MP3 if I upgrade to 20?

Thanks!

They should do it for free if all you need is a software update. Otherwise you are obligated to pay.

Nope, not given your build date.

There are people who have build dates dating back to November 2003 (who have professional nav) and are getting MP3...check the threads. It should work.

I provided the service manager the service bulletin posted on this forum for enabling MP3 playback and this is what he quoted me for my newly upgraded v20.02 software:

This service information bulletin was issued for early to mid production e60's such as yours (05/2005 prod.) indicating that these early vehicles software will not support the auxiliary adapter if installed. Once this software version has been loaded into the vehicle, the vehicle will recognize the new device through the audio menu.
Price for the auxiliary adapter including software download is $296.64 For labor only, the auxiliary adapter is $88.50.
Total parts and labor with tax is $391.34

One of us is confused.

Aux port? We are talking about enabling MP3 here??

I'm confused too, seems you need to have "a sit down" with your dealer!

Check my happy news in the before mentioned thread
