So I have the heater problem that a lot of other e60.net users seem to have where your heater only blows luke warm air. It seems everyone is agreement that this infact a THERMOSTAT problem I'm out of warranty so should I skip the diagnostic test and just have the thermostat replaced?

I wouldn't simply replace a part blindly. These are very complex machines - there are hundreds of elements involved in the heating system. Tho your symptoms sound very much like the others....there is never a guarantee that this will work. A quick diagnostic will be cost-effective for your repair IMHO...

Knowing what year and model you cruise around in might help get better replies.

But, I would not spend a dime until I was sure I had read the manual thouroughly and understood the complicated setup.
