I bought a Dension Gateway 500 a few years ago and just finally got around to finding a Indy shop that would do the coding for me. However then cannot get it to work.
I followed the instructions to do the firmware upgrade and I think something might have gone wrong and it's bricked. When I insert the USB stick now it will not read it at all. Anyone know a way to reset the thing and I could have this shop try again with the programming? They really seem to know what they are doing and have really tried everything. 2004 530i with a Nov 03 production date.... Dip switches are 1 and 2 up.... Rest down. Thanks! |
Regarding the programming bit-I would recommend finding a shop with the Autologic module for BMW. This machine can reprogram the car-and more importantly, it has a "Denison" button. You hit that, and it gives you a choice of models you are installing. It then codes the car and works like a champ. I am not sure which method it uses to code, but I think that is a solid path forward. I just did this with my E60 last week.

The shop does have a Autologic module and does these codings all the time. The issue I have is that the Autologic can't 'see' the Dension Gateway 500... so something must be wrong with it. It will read the USB drive for the upgrade anymore. I want to know how to reset the entire firmware so the GW 500 responds...
