Default Delayed acceleration when moving off

Hi, I have a 2004 525dse recently I have found a crack in the exhaust manifold which is being repaired this week, but I have noticed over the last few months that once the engine is warm if I stop at a junction and then set off there is a delay when I press the accelerator. I have to leave a large gap otherwise it can be quite dangerous.
A message appeared yesterday "emission fault and air mass sensor" had the messages removed and a new air mass sensor fitted. But hasn't cured the slow set off.
I've noticed that below 2000 revs if I put my foot to the floor it takes about 3 to 4 seconds before it starts to speed up, but if I am driving at 2000 revs and put my foot down it goes like a rocket.
Can any of you clever people give me any advise?
Thanks, Steve

Try cleaning your EGR. If your car is like most diesels, it will be full of gunge. A faulty EGR can also generate emissions error codes.

No worries, nothing better than a free fix.
