I installed coilovers shortly after New Years, and appropriately had my dealership do a full alignment towards the end of January after they settled. Today I took the car in this morning for an oil change and it's pointed out that my rear two tires are bald on the inner sides. Nobody pointed anything out during the alignment I had, the tires were fine then. And the guy even said that it's abnormally worn for only having driven it since the alignment. But he doesn't seem to get that clearly the error is on their side. Even with new tires, their going to wear unevenly.

And yes lowered E60s will wear the tires quicker than stock.

yes how many miles? E60 is known to have negative camber so when you lower it'll wear more.

The dealership probably set the rear camber at the factor specs, which is between -1.5 and -2 I believe, however by lowering your car you've changed the geometry of your car, so if set at factory specs the tires would wear significantly faster than a sport and non-sport car. Take a look at the print out of your alignment, and see where youre camber was set at, ill bet its in factory specs. What you have to tell them specifically where you want the camber set at.

A good number is -.5 and less for tire longetivity.

Sorry this happened to you, I learned the hard way too...blew throught a set of rear tires in like 7-9k miles, friggin sucked.

Just had this problem with my 2007 550. Stock, with staggared 18" wheels. Tire was pretty much worn to the wear bar evenly across the face of the tire except for the very inner inch, you could see the steel cord in a couple of spots. Tire shop said the cords had separated. That was the right rear, the left rear showed the same wear but no cords showing yet. The car has 48k, we bought it with 38k and and this will be the third set of tires on the rear. Had the rear alignment checked, he set the camber at 1.9. He also said not to expect more than 20-25k miles from these low profile tires. Rear alignment only, cost was $54.10.

-2 camber is nothing. I've ran -2 all around and uneven wear was barely noticeable.

Also, if factory spec is -1.5 to -2, then lowering your car, then aligning it back to factory spec won't cause premature camber wear.

Now, if your toe is out of whack + a little bit of camber, this will wear your tires down quick. However, your car will usually pull due to bad toe so its probably not this.

Yeah it's been roughly 2700 miles since the alignment, it's ridiculous. Looking at the paperwork from the alignment, the rear wheels are at -2.0 and -1.9 camber, 0.12 and 0.16 toe, which according to the diagram falls directly within factory specs. Getting new tires in a day or two... guess I'll burn what I have left haha
