I had a group of them that made the screen glow red, and they changed out the display last week. It was really anoying, and it was easy for them to change out. They had to order the screen however, and it comes out with a couple of simple torx screws. They told me they might have to reload the iDrive software and configure the screen with the right languages for our region, but they didn't tell me if that was what happened.

But I do feel better about a brand new car with the most central 'face' on it working properly now.

I believe using plasma does not get rid of the possibility of having a dead pixel so either LCD or plasma does not matters.

If the green pixel shows up, red and blue component of that pixel is dead. Remember the three color the computer uses: Red, Blue, and Green?

Actually, you have two pixels. You have more soon.

Yes, I believe you are right: Red, blue and green and with those colors it can reflect almost any color available.

That other pixel (Upper right on the screen) was some dirt on the plexiglass

A pixel on my idrive screen went green, it seems like it died...

I'm taking my car to the dealership next Friday
Take a look
I also have a dot (blue) toward the left hand side middle of the screen. I guess it is good that we can bring this issue under warranty if it gets worse.

My dealer replaced the iDrive monitor for a new one no more dead pixels,,, at least for now.
It only took them a day and a half...
They also loaded new iDrive version and RDS is gone, all I can see now is the station number
