Post

I took a driving course a couple of days ago at our local track (Mission Raceway). It was incredibly fun - if you haven't done this before you have got to do it!
The instructors were great and I learned alot. The car was incredible too - the faster you go and the harder you push it the smaller the car feels. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera (and thought twice about posting this without photos). There was another M5, lots of M3s, and Audi R8, Lotus Elise, etc. I've now got the bug.....I need more track time!!!

Is it just me or does anyone else thinks this is the most fun you can have with you clothes on?

It was great. The paddle shifters let you keep your hands on the wheel which made it quite a bit easier for a novice such as myself. I was amazing to drive the car in a way you just can't on the street. When you get it right and the car is properly balanced and on the right line, you just float through the turns without fighting the car at all. When it works, its just magic.

That IS fun, but even better is to drive cars on a track that isn't one's own.

A have been racing cars since I was 11 yo, the money run out when I was 15...

Sounds like a great time , did you use your street tires ? If so how is the wear factor ? What do they charge for the day and what does it include.?

Cheers

Make the time!! It's incredible. The one I attended was great because of the learning. You spend about 2/3 of the day on the track and about 1/3 in class. You go out for a few laps then come back in and talk about each of the 9 corners and how to improve, then head back out. We went in packs of 4 cars, and every 2 laps rotate with the the lead car going to the back of the group. Everyone got to do 2 laps with the instructor driving their car to show the perfect line and throughout the day several more laps with the instructor as passenger helping you fine tune your corners. The skill level of everyone from the start of the day to the end went up dramatically. Lots and lots of laps - at the end of the day just exhausted physically and mentally!
