Daytime running lamp or "Angel eyes" can be accessed without having to remove the entire headlight unit. Theres a black circle cap which you need two twist off behind the headlight and the bulb will be visible, the type of bulb is an H8.

I went to my local dealership last week to replace a burned out daytime running lamp (bulb) - This is the second time I've had to replace in 78K miles. I ask my Service Advisor the average lifespan of these bulbs and he says, "on average 2-3 years". He then proceeds to say, "We can also re-program your car to make these bulbs last longer, for an additional $210." I'm thinking, are you kidding me - Is this guy for real? Of course, I declined the programming. What a bunch of criminals!!!

Wow!! $210 to go into the iDrive and deactivate the DRLs? Of course they will last forever then I guess you might save money in the long run...

What the hell, I have never heard of that. I wonder what they actually do.

Not to deactivate the DRL's (you can already do that yourself in i-drive) but to somehow re-program the car to make the bulbs last longer - A bunch of bs!

If that is true, that is incredibly stupid. You can get a set of bulbs for $20.

You would have to go through 10 sets to even make that reasonable. Utter moronic.
