Only way to disable them is having someone who can read/program your car, they have the computer to disable it. BMW dealership will NOT disable them as DRL's are required BYLAW.

If I am reading your signature below you have a MY 2008, if this is so you should be able to go into the I-drive and turn on or off your DRL's, unless of course as mentioned below you are in a country that requires it by law. In the US its not required, so the option is in the I-drive car settings menu, I am not sure how it is in other countries.

It helps to put your location in your profile so people can answer you with good info....just an FYI

If your car has the option, depending on your country of residing, then, on the iDrive, go to settings, then lights, and daytime running light will be in the list that comes up after that.

I did it at the dealer, actually it was done without me asking. As the iDrive get upgraded for the iPod interface, they left the DRL off by accident.

DRL=Daytime Running Lights They are "half lit" head lights required by law in some coutries, Canada among others. I don't recall how the 5er does them and I think it changed with the LCIs.
As mentioned, in the US, its owner preference, and on recent iDrive versions they can be enabled/disabled by the owner, otherwise its a trip to the dealer.
