dash storage comartment removal?
i believe i left an important ID card on top of the ashtray-cover that slides to have it uncovered, and accidentally my ID slid inside my dash.
is there a way of removing this compartment for non-navigation cars to have access to the inside of my dash without removing the wood trim and stereo unit?
thanks in advance for your help

It's not difficult at all and takes about 5-10 minutes to remove the long trim and the trim covers around your ashtray. At least if its removed you should be able to recover that ID card.
Just start from the passengers outer edge and using a protective plastic tool or screw driver pry outward and walk it back slowly to the steering wheel area. The ac controls just unscrew and the connections will only go one way. The vertical trim panel can be removed by prying outward along either vertical edge. I believe there are two clips each side. Once you do this, you will be amazed at how easy it is. It just looks a bit intimidating...

so decided to take on this project yesterday afternoon, my biggest fear was to damage the wood trim when removing it, however this turned out to be the easiest part. I had to remove a bunch of screws, maybe 14-16? and ended up getting access to the dash. funny part is that i also found a couple of coins and random items that i had not seen in years!
(btw, i am not very handy with tools, so took me a total of 2 hours to do this project
