Dash cam + GPS + Dynamic drive

I have a 2010 528i e60.

The Dynamic Drive fuse in the glove compartment is 10 amp.

I first put a fuse tap on the 10 amp fuse.

Next, I attached a 3 port outlet extension to the fuse tap.

Next, I plugged in my Dash cam and also my Garmin GPS to the 3 port outlet extension.

The 10 amp circuit has:

- the dynamic drive power on it
- the dash cam power on it
- the Garmin power on it

Am I asking for trouble or should all 3 work with no worries? :o

I don't think anyone here can say. You have to do the amp math for everything you have put on there.

That said... I wouldn't put anything on such a critical circuit. There are plenty other fuses and even open slots to make a new one.

Yes, I did see a few open slots in the glove box fuse box. Some slots didn't have a core to plug a fuse into and some empty slots had a blue core that you Could plug a fuse into.

Next:

Are you saying I can just pick any empty slot and plug in a 10 amp fuse or 15 amp fuse into that empty slot and the dash cam will work on that empty circuit?

Are those empty circuits rated at a certain amp or do I define that depending on what amp fuse I plug in the empty slot?

Thanks.

You will want to first test the circuit to make sure it turns on and off with the key as you desire.

The fuse you put in will determine the amperage of the overall circuit. I assume each device you add in includes its own properly sized fuse.

There is an extra cigarette lighter socket underneath the glove box, why don't you use that since it's made to give enough juice to electronic gadgets.

Yep. Easy to get to and tap the wires. I use it myself. But... not as easy as snapping in a fuse circuit adapter. Either way works great.
