Not sure if anyone else has notice this or whether BMW have updated later models (mine's UK 2004)?
When I get puncture warnings, the I-Drive screen display finishes its message by saying "able to continue at max speed". This pop-up warning screen has no scroll function. It is only when you go into the main menu, select the service option and then display the Control Check messages do you get the facility to scroll down. When doing so, you then see the rest of the message which goes onto say something along the lines of "...of 50mph."
So, if you don't understand the limits of run-flats (which I now don't have
), you may not appreciate that there is a speed limit with a puncture, as if you'd fitted a space saving wheel.
When I first saw this message, I thought the system had detected a slight deflation, hence the "max speed". I assumed a more serious message would appear if a more serious deflation had occurred. However, I was wrong!
Useful info in case anyone else is mis-informed by this screen.
Ian.
