I reported to my SA a persistent misfire on one of my cylinders that I could not correct with a new plug and coil pack.
After their inspection, I was informed the car was previously serviced at another dealer prior to my purchase as a CPO for the injector recall and that ALL 6INJECTORS HAD BEEN INSTALLED INCORRECTLY requiring a cylinder head replacement to correct the error. I believe what happens is that o-rings get forgotten causing the injectors to be installed too far into the cylinder head and damaging it.
Perhaps those of you who have had injectors replaced, and still have troublesome misfires, could investigate this as an issue. This is an estimated $8000 repair if one were required to pay for it.

Wow bro. I know exactly what they're talking about but 8K???? Anyway what symptoms were you having and for how long? What made you decide to go to $tealer? So your car is still under CPO or did they honor it because it carries their 10 yr type of warranty deal like the pass seat mat?
Heads up for anyone, if you're not sure, call the dealer and get the repair history of your car. If they cannot give you full details because it was repaired at another dealer they can give you that dealers number and they will tell you. It's important to get a history of the car because like issues NoQuarter experienced.
Glad it was ok. Now you'll get a new cylinder head, gasket and valve cover gaskets and so forth. Probably new hardware too.

I found a similar post on another forum and he was quoted $9000!
My only symptom was the misfire I couldn't remedy. I would say I also have an occasional rough idle but I attributed that to needing intake valves cleaned. At the moment I'm not sure what policy they are following at getting the work done - loyal customer, multiple BMW owner, CPO, recorded history that a BMW shop made the mistake- all of the above I would say. I have a great SA and service department at my local dealer.

Wow, that's great that you are covered!
The cylinder head cover has two gaskets; one on the outside and one in the middle where the six spark plugs are located. If the middle gasket (part #11127581215) for the six spark plugs are not properly sealed and have small leak(s), can it cause damage to the cylinder head?

Thanks for the info and best of luck for a clean repair!

The engine on my '08 535i started misfiring occasionally a couple of weeks ago, and got worse. Since I needed an appointment for the battery cable recall, I had them check out the misfiring. After running diagnostics, test plan indicated to replace bank 2 injectors. Dealer replaced three injectors including decoupling elements (?) at N/C even though factory warranty had expired 12-31-2011. By now all 6 injectors haven been replaced at one time or another (bank 2 actually twice). Hope this fixes my engine problems for a while. Only problem with the car so far. Just returned from a 200 mile trip into the NC mountains and everything ran smoothly.

I have the car back at the moment. Dealer installed the seals and replaced an injector and got it back to me until something is decided on who and when the repairs will be made. My SA has really looked out for me but now the previous dealer wants a say in what happens.
What does the damage look like if injectors are installed without the seals and what sort of diagnostics would a technician do to determine the damage? The previous dealer may have the desire to do the right repair but they will also be motivated to save some $$ and be tempted to err on the side of $$ and not in my favor.
