Default Cut LCI e60 dpf

Have the one unit with cat and dpf

So guess I have to move the rack to drop it out, then cut hole and remove internals,

Should I leave cat element in and would it not fall down in the emty tin?

Please any help thanks

I removed mine for a clean.

Didn't move the rack, but I did release the engine mounts and jack up the engine a bit.

Still scraped a bit here and there.

Also very heavy item to hold with one hand under the car while re-installing. I replaced the round sheet metal turbo seal as well - didn't want any leakage issues.

As far as I know, the dpf element can be removed and the cat will still remain in its place. Don't cut/remove the cat.

Default Dpf

Which turbo metal sheer seal needs replacing

Would it touch or damage that removing dpf?

From this diagram RealOEM.com * BMW E60N 530d Catalyser/Diesel particulate filter
you can see part number 18307793678 (3 in the pic).

Book also says to replace the clamp as well but I didn't do that.

I think the metal gasket compresses once and is deformed so that it never really seals as well again.
