The 5K for custom paint is correct. When I ordered my e60, I had that as an option. They did show me an X5 in Imola Red that someone ordered.

Hi all,
I live in San Francisco, and I'm in the market for a new E60. A sales guy at a local dealer told me that if I order a new 2009, I can special order it in any color that BMW currently or previously offered, for an additional charge of $5,000. BTW, I'm aware of the Priority One color options this year of Barbera Red and Neptune Blue -- what the sales guy is talking about is different.
I've never heard of this before -- can anyone else confirm this?

For sure at least Mercedes-Benz's can be ordered with any old color in Europe.
Five grand feels quite a lot, though.

From what I learned when I ordered my 2008 535, the $5,000 price tag for a custom color is accurate. Although I was told $5,100. I wanted to get my car in Imola Red and was originally told that they would do this for $3,000. Then when I went to order the car, they told me that BMW would not allow a M Color like imola Red to be painted on a non-m car.
I was bummed out b/c I really wanted Imola. My sales guy then asked me if I would like Crimson Red which was a current 3 series color. He said he thought that they would do that for around $1,000. Anyway, he checked into it and it was $5,100 for custom paint.
For that much, I said forget it, especially for crimson red, which can look orange in certain light. All of this happened before BMW started offereing Imola Red on a e60 in Europe, so I do not know if they will let Imola Red on a e60 now or not. Probably not in the states since they are doing it overseas.
My brother in law is looking at getting a new M3 in Imola Red and the dealership has told him they will do it for $5,000. Although I have also read that you cannot order a custom color unless you do it through BMW
Individual. Well BMW Indivdual is not available in the US for the e60.
Anyway, long story short, I ended up just going with Deep Sea Blue Metallic which I am really happy with. Platinum gray was my second choice.

What does Imola red look like? I thought the M5 color was Indiannapolis Red?
