Custom paint on new E60?
Hi all,
I live in San Francisco, and I'm in the market for a new E60. A sales guy at a local dealer told me that if I order a new 2009, I can special order it in any color that BMW currently or previously offered, for an additional charge of $5,000. BTW, I'm aware of the Priority One color options this year of Barbera Red and Neptune Blue -- what the sales guy is talking about is different.
I've never heard of this before -- can anyone else confirm this?

I work at the SC BMW plant and we can lease cars as well. I seen where we could get Neptune Blue and Barbera Red. Im not sure if any employee has ordered either color yet or not. However, if it was a special order color, im sure they wouldnt let us order it. I would call another dealer and ask around for making an accurate decision!

Yes.
With BMW Individual you can order:
BMW Individual colors.
Any BMW color EVER made.
ANY color you want, even if never before been used on a BMW.
Prices go up from step to step of course.
So, the 5K sounds like it's stage 2.

My Ride: 2008 535i - Deep Sea Blue Metallic, Black Nasca Leather w/ Ventilated Seats, Anthracite Headliner, Sport Pkg, Premium Pkg, Cold Weather Pkg, Sport Auto Transmission w/ Shift Paddles, PDC, Rear Side Airbag, Automatic Sunshades, Heads Up Display, Sat, HD Radio, Navigation, Logic 7
From what I learned when I ordered my 2008 535, the $5,000 price tag for a custom color is accurate. Although I was told $5,100. I wanted to get my car in Imola Red and was originally told that they would do this for $3,000. Then when I went to order the car, they told me that BMW would not allow a M Color like imola Red to be painted on a non-m car.
I was bummed out b/c I really wanted Imola. My sales guy then asked me if I would like Crimson Red which was a current 3 series color. He said he thought that they would do that for around $1,000. Anyway, he checked into it and it was $5,100 for custom paint.
For that much, I said forget it, especially for crimson red, which can look orange in certain light. All of this happened before BMW started offereing Imola Red on a e60 in Europe, so I do not know if they will let Imola Red on a e60 now or not. Probably not in the states since they are doing it overseas.
My brother in law is looking at getting a new M3 in Imola Red and the dealership has told him they will do it for $5,000. Although I have also read that you cannot order a custom color unless you do it through BMW
Individual. Well BMW Indivdual is not available in the US for the e60.
Anyway, long story short, I ended up just going with Deep Sea Blue Metallic which I am really happy with. Platinum gray was my second choice.

Unless you have money to burn~ and some of you may~
Or you are dying to have a particular color which is not available in the offered pallet and you are willing to fork over a monstrous US$5K... Are Individual colors (interior and exterior) really necessary on BMWs below let's say M cars, 6 series, and 7 series? I can understand why BMW NA no longer offers Individual Program on the regular 5 series.
