My Ride: 2004 BMW 645 black sapphire metallic, 19" Style 166 (245/40 & 285/35 w 15mm spacers)

Hi everyone,
BMW recommends 245/40 tires on Style 135 but I'm thinking of using winter tires from my E63 with 245/45 R18 setup on my E60 with Sport Package. The diameter difference of these two tires are about 25 mm. I'm not very worried about rubbing at rear but I think that it might rub in front. Could anyone give me some advice at this point? Does it also somehow affect my DSC or riding? It would be very good if I could use my existing winter tires and not buying the new ones.
Regards,
Allar

A better choice would be 225/45-18 if you are trying to go more narrow than stock. If you like this size because you can get it for free or close to it..... maybe. In a Dunlop M3 the 245/45 is at 779 rev/mile vs. 809 rev/mile for the 245/40 -- that's ~3.7% difference. I've always thought you should try to stay within plus or minus 3% (with 2% or less being best).

I'm going with 245/40/18 winter tires. Same as stock/RFT size. Tire Rack said it's the safest route. Now I just need to decide on brand. Hmmm....

I'm also trying to decide what brand....tough choice! I'm hesitating between the Michelin Alpin Pilot 2 and Dunlop M3.

Same here....I'm going with 245/40/18 winter tires on my 135m based on BMWs recommendations.

Have run 225/45/18 on my 135's last winter and will use them again this year.
No problem whatsoever. Chose the slightly narrower tyres to at least a little increase slush and water cutting ability and as the wheels are only 8" wide 225 fits perfectly
