I would like to know what is available as far as adding cupholders to the vehicle. The ones that comes with the car will not do. How is the BMW cupholders perform? It is attached to the lower door compartment.

People seem to be upset with the cupholders. I don't get it. I almost always have coffee or a pop can and haven't had any problems. I think they are fine (but would rather have the 7 series cupholders)

A German friend of mine said that cupholders are inefficient becasue when driving you must have complete attention on the road and no where else. I actually noticed this while driving fast and aggresive one day...music off, phone off, display brightness to minimum....i became one with the road ...... I love German efficiency :)

I expected to hate the cupholders in the E60 but they turned out to be much better than they look. They're a big improvement on the holders in my '99 Lexus (I just had that car detailed and the rugs were completely coated with coffee stains from travel cups that went flying).

This is true.

But the whole drinking (soft drinks or coffee) while driving culture is a American way.

I do not even miss any cupholders in my car as so many fellow Europeans.

But since I used to live in MI, I know that the cupholders are a must overthere.

About drinking and driving - In those days it really was drinking and drivng and
for sure without seatbelts

There was on public transportation and the taxis where few...

The cupholders are very poorly constructed. Very flimsy, complicated system. Totally unacceptable for a vehicle of this caliber.
