Cup Holder - Yes yes its broken
#1
My both cup holders were not working
But I manage to fix the passenger side .
What I have found the button that you used to open then cup holder at the back of it bends and if you straighten it .Then it catches the other lever which ejects it normally
But i am stuck on the drivers side as a circle spring came out and not sure where it goes back
Does any one know ?

I am not an expert on this however my thought is that what I see is a gear rack on the tray. Since the mechanism needs energy to open, I would imagine that the driver would be a wound gear driving the gear rack. Look for the gear. The spring probably wraps around the gear.
Seems like the gear has fallen behind the dash????
You effectively wind the spring when you close it and unwind it to open.
BTW - I saw great metal cup holder on the BMW sports car(s). Has anyone put this on an E60?
