Not a fan of braking after passing either. If I pass a redneck/ricer and then "flashed" them, I'm just asking for trouble!
I see the need braking with Active Cruise Control. I do not see a need for Dynamic Cruise Control to brake if the vehicle:
- is already decelerating (throttle lift-off)
- is not going downhill (pitch sensor)
- there are no lateral forces (not turning)
My Lexus LS engages engine braking during downhill motion if I lift-off the throttle or tap on the brakes. The same behavior on a level roadway does not engage engine braking. Perhaps the Dynamic Cruise Control/Hill Descent Control is strictly a speed control? I'm sure the E60 has sensors for yaw and roll. Why not pitch as well?

sry to revive this old thread.
Mine Car doesn't have the CC with the braking function. Downhill with CC it keeps on accelerating (when the engine brake isn't high enough). And when I set a lower speed it doesn't slow down fast. I was in a LCI car recently and could realy feel the braking function of the CC. To my knowledge only LCI cars had the CC with braking function, where the pre-LCI didn't have this.
Is there a way to active this function on my 2007 pre-LCI car ?
