Thumbs up

My electrically folding mirrors just went crazy today!

After having folded them and returning to the car to drive off - they went crazy when I tried to unfold them.

They went all the way to the front, 180 deg insted of 90 deg.

After 5 or so attempts, the left mirror returned to it?s normal position. Right one still wouldn?t follow my commands

Turned off the ignition and locked the car. Left it for 45 minutes ( some more shopping! ) and returned to see what?s happened to the gremlins.

Everything worked normal - even on the right side!

Later today, same thing again

I love these computer monster cars

Anyone had the same problem? Did it go away by itself or??

Called the dealer, but they had not heard of this problem. Nor did they have any sloution other that turning off teh ignition and leave the car " for a while"!

Hi Cidair,
Yes I had the same problem this morning, only with the right mirror, first I thought somebody must have knocked against it. So I pulled it back by hand to find the rest point, but there isn't a rest point. After folding and unfolding a few times with the internal button, they eventually went back to nomal. Quite strange though, at one point I wa driving along with my right mirror folded fully forward !! It was quite cold here this morning, display showed -3C, still you guys must get it colder. It has been all right thru the day. Regards D2NET

D2NET, you mentioned the cold, and I was going to say that maybe the weather is affecting the motor or the controller. I believe the mirrors use some kind of position sensor to know where its position is (0, 90 or 180 degrees). If for some reason the ECU could not accurately know its position, it may try to move it until it finds it or stop at the 180 mark. If you have a garage or some sheltered area, leave it there for a while and then see if the problem goes away, then put it back out into the elements and see if the problem comes back.

Good luck.

Today it was - 8 deg here in Gothenbourg.

But last winter it was down to - 15 deg some days and I didn?t have any problems then.

Have to see tomorrow how it works.
