Has anyone had their cracked windshield replaced under warranty by the dealer with no questions asked, in the NY/NJ/Ct area? I need to do mine soon. Thanks in advance!

Well, actually, he's member number 502 accoding to the profile information under his name.

'2478' is 500!

Maybe the two admins, das and Lomag aren't counted as "members" so that may account for the count being off?

Thanks for the welcome! That would have been cool if i was assigned member # 525, 530, 535, 540, 545 or 550.

Anyway, my windshield has no pebble impact marks and the crack is spreading! What an eyesore!

Welcome 530iii, and to try and give a partial answer, I have seen others who have had windsheilds replaced under warranty as long as there is no obvious rock nick or other external damage that may have caused the crack. Sorry, but I don't know of anyone in the NY/NJ/ CT area though.

I suspect that there is a big problem with 530 windscreens.
To save weight they are made especially thin.
I had a small chip ( which on any other car would have remained "stable " for years). Then it cracked to over 20".
Whilst I delayed getting a replacement ( I wanted it tackled after our hols! ) we were hit by a stone again and a crack in the other corner spread over 18".
So 5000 miles and the windscreen needed replacement on two ocassions.
( BTW I drive "normal uk use" - Windsor area)

Stu

I had mine replaced by William Jacks in Sunningdale under warranty , they just checked no 'chip' was visible and they did the replacement.

Guys,

Same problem just noticed 2 days ago. After a game of gulf ... had the car standing in the sun ... I wouldn't say it was too hot, say 30 degrees C., just drove back to the house ... don't know what got into me, but decided to give her a wash. After washing .... lo and behold an L-shaped crack about 8 inches long appeared. I almost died :'( .

Spoke to my local dealer and he says, "Let me check this out and get back to you". Imagine that!!!???? And you would think they would have some sort of advisory that goes out to the dealers

I'm still waiting for a feedback and would get really pissed off if I don't hear what I want to hear!!

Any other stories?
