So, I've had my car since August, and just had the windshield replaced due to a rock hit on the freeway - three weeks ago.

Guess what happened today . . . Yep, another one.

I'm sure it's just a cosmic aberration, but come on, two direct hits in just over a month. AAGGHHH!!

Anyone experienced with windshield repair, or am I out another $250 deductible? It's a 3/4" crack, with a chip in the middle.

I think if I claim under comprehensive, it's $250 deductible, but if it's vandalism, it's free. I had a door window broken a couple of years ago, and there was no deductible for that.

Most insurance companies give you 1 (ONE) free windshield - NO DEDUCTIBLE. - at least here in florida .... because it is cheaper for them to replace a windshield than to pay for repairs caused by you driving & wrecking because you did not see correctly.

I think in florida insurance companies are required to replace them for free by law. Or atleast that was my undstanding.

My question is how bad was the crack? I ask this because there are many people out there that can take some pretty bad cracks - whether long ones or big spiderweb round ones, and fix them to where it looks virtually perfect. I should know - I had quite a few on one of my earlier cars. Granted, they charge about $30 or so for each crack, but it sounds worth it to me - again, depending on how bad it is.

What really ticks me off is that on my brand new 545 I have a few very very small chips on the windshield, but there are smack dab in the middle of my line of sight. I know that they could be easily repaired, but they are so small that I may just leave them alone - unless they get bigger.

It's not that big - call it 3/4" straightline, with a chip in the middle. I'm hoping it can be repaired, as it seems silly to keep replacing the thing every time.

It's right in the line of sight - not an inch from where the last one happened.

About 3 weeks ago, I had a wrench (YES, A WRENCH!) flew into my windshield and it hit right smack close to the middle of the screen. Was driving on highway 880 when all of a sudden this thing flew like a boomerang, it went up and then it went down into my windshield.

There was about a 4 inch 'crater' on the windshield, where you could actually poke your pinky finger through into the inside of the car. There were cracks than ran all the way to the edge of the windshield.

Unfortunately I didn't see who did it. So I couldn't vent my anger toward anybody! Anyway, paid a $100 deductible and it was fixed 1.5 weeks later. Since it was an 05', the dealer didn't have the part in stock and had to order it. Then when they got it, they gave the installer the wrong version! Anyway, to cut the story short, I finally had it replace 1.5 weeks later. The bad thing was, it was raining just about everyday during that time.
