So I was driving today down the thruway and BAM huge ass rock hits my windshield. 12+ inch crack from the passenger side, over and up.
I remembered reading on here about people having problems with aftermarket replacement windshields, I called up my stealership and found who they used.
After about an hour of battling on the phone with geico and the glass shop also on the line I got them to cover the OEM windshield, new sensor, and moldings. Geico only wanted to pay 490 for glass+install while the bmw glass is 530 plus about another 100 bucks for sensor and moulding. I guess i did good considering they wanted to give me some safelight glass. The car goes in Thursday done in about an hour.

Be sure to ask about the solar shielding... no idea really what its called... but I had a major problem with my V1 not working when I went with the higher priced replacement thinking I was getting a great deal. Ended up completely blocking the functionality of my V1. Fortunately the windshield that they put in was completely defective and had to be replaced. I ended up with a windshield without all the features and it was perfect. V1 worked and I did not have to go to the dealership.
Glad of course you came out with just a windshield crack and not major damage.

Geico uses SafeLight AutoGlass as their Windsheild replacement service. If your car is not leased, chances are they are not going to replace it with OEM and you will have to pay out of pocket a little extra if you want the OEM. Make sure you are insured with "Full Glass" coverage with Geico.
