hey guys....i have a quick question....i found this 08 5series...it has 27k miles on it....i called the dealership and asked if it was certified pre-owned...the dealer said no...he said it's still under warranty and i can buy an extended service plan for around 2000...what is better CPO or not certified car?....what should i look for as in test drive or maintainence records perhaps?....last thing anybody would want would be a problematic car...thanks

The 08 will still have about 4 years of standard warranty, or until you reach 50k miles. So I wouldn't worry about the car not being CPO.

A dealer may decide not to put a vehicle through the CPO process for cost/reward purposes. New tires is the first thing that comes to mind.

For my money, I prefer the added piece of mind of the CPO warranty provides.

I believe you'll have the option to extend for until the factory warranty expires. As long as the car is priced right seems like you'll have plenty of warranty to identify any problems.

the new factory warranty is much better than CPO

get the non cpo one and then buy the extended warranty if you think youll keep it for a while

Dont let them sucker you into buying extended maintenance. If you are gonna buy anything make sure its the extended warranty. The repairs can be very costly. The ext maintenance is only worth it of you drive a lot. I bought cpo and love the fact that i had ext warranty for the peace of mind. I opted not to get the ext maintenance bc i only drive 12-15k a year and just wasnt worth the price tag.

Are you buying from a BMW dealer, if yes then they can CPO the car (for a price). Generally the better cars are selected for CPO because it shouldn't cost as much to get them up to the required standard/condition to pass the CPO inspection. Based on this I would be concerned about a car that the dealer doesn't want to CPO.

What 5er is it 528, 535 or 550 ......if it's a 535, get a CPO.
