Countdown to Munich
#11
Actually it was NOT that bad for me. Dropped the car off at Munich July 23 and it was at the dealer in MD Aug 20th. 2nd car on the Jingu Maru within 14 months, entire ED process seemed highly efficient/streamlined.

I suspect that the east coast VPC(s) (is there more than one?) are bigger/more efficient than the one in Oxnard/Hueneme. Based on other posts on this board there appear to be quite a few cars besides mine hung up there. In any case it is something BMW needs to fix, and soon. They will lose customers over the long run because of this if they don't.

Brainee,
Do you have a backup plan? I'm going in late February and am a bit worried about the bad weather. I may just take the car for a couple of days and then take the train around..... from what I've heard though..... you must purchase the Euro-rail tickets here first. Anyone know if this is true?
Whatever you do Brainee.. have a GREAT time. Looking forward to hearing how it goes.
Thanks,

Where are you planning to go on your trip? We went through Munich, Salzburg, Prague and Vienna and all were fantastic.? ? The redelivery process for us was flawless.? We dropped off the car at E.H. Harms on May 27 and it was at my dealer on July 5.

Don't have high expectations for a reasonable shipping time after you drop your car off. The supposed "high priority" for ED cars and "6 to 8 weeks" to ship it back to you is a joke.? Take a look at: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=5680? My experience in this are has been unacceptable.? Other than that, my wife and I had a great two weeks in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.? It was a lot easier than I expected it to be.? Good luck.
