Can anyone confirm the actual cost for the part? I'm cool with labor but part being $300+?

I have 2007 550i and they are installing Ipod kit for me to access through my stereo.

Any help appreciated, just seems high.

The ipod interface sells for about GBP200, about USD400. So you have nothing to whinge about compared to us poor Brits. It's rip off the Brits again.

I bought the part from Gary (Newport) for the following:
65110403651 224.96
SHIPPING 9.00

That was months ago, not sure if that price is still valid.
I installed it myself and paid $100 for activation at dealership

You saved about $100 versus what I recently paid my dealer. The unit cost from the dealer is $299 + labor = $439

I am right by you in Arlington, VA. I just priced the part at Passport BMW (where I got mine) - the part should only be $299. You can do it yourself you know... check the DIY section.

FYI - they don't quote time, I guess since it can take varying amounts of time.

Thanks all; seems like was correct fee. Question; do I lose ability to shuffle songs on my Ipod now?

There are two prices for the install.

1. Replace CD changer with iPod adapter.
2. Install iPod adapter in a car without CD changer.

Former is much cheaper since iDrive is already programmed for CD changer. Latter is more like $700 since it requires dealer to program iDrive for the CD changer.

The total quote, supply and install ipod interface in my March 2004 without cd changer, is GBP500, about USD1000. How about that for expensive?
