545's get those, even on regular steering wheels.

So that second picture posted above is NOT from a 545 then.

Any possible way we can change the standard steering wheel to the SMG steering wheel?

That secon pic shows a US model, so I am not sure if US 545's get the Rutenium trim on the steering wheel. Hormazd claims to have the regular steering wheel and has a 545. So maybe it's different in the US.

Anyways, over here in Germany all 545's get Rutenium trim on the steering wheel, no matter what steering wheel it is.

Iceman & urbo73. I've got the one looking like the smg steering w/out the paddle shift. Its an option over here, even for the 545. Its called the sports steering III. Prefer the m steering though. The feel is much better and the rim is generally a little thicker. I believe the m steering's circumference is also a wee bit smaller.

I know, I have the sports steering wheel too - in it's heated version. With the ruthenium trim and w/o paddles.

urbo73...it should be fun to watch this Sunday, or nerve wrecking depending on how the game progresses.

everyone...the difference in steering wheels that I was talking about was the "standard" wheel with Rutenium on the 545, and normal black on the 530 and 525. I thought that my brochure even showed this difference via pictures, but it could be a non-us thing. Anyone in the US with Rutenium on a standard wheel? If not, then Hormazd wins...standard wheel is the same across all models.

My Ride: 2010 E63 AMG -- Palladium Silver/Black. Love this car but looking to switch things up to keep things fresh. 2nd AMG in a row, but toying with coming back into the BMW fold!

Yes...I have a 2005 545i with non-heated steering wheel with the Rutenium on sides of bottom spoke, which is being changed to heated steering wheel (i.e. looks the same only thicker) but without working wheel heating controller and switch.

Confusing??? Just try looking up the part numbers with all the different models, transmissions, and heated vs non-heated.

I just wanted the look of the stock wheel but with a thicker rim to hold onto while driving.

Hope this helps.
