Hi. I recently purchased a set of OEM Star Spoke 124s (stock were 138s and Contis) and 245/40/18 F, 275/35/18 R Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires. I have received conflicting information from the owner's manual, my local BMW dealership, and a local Michelin dealer regarding the correct tire pressure. The dealership says go 35 F & R, the owner's manual says 29 F & 33 R, while the local Michelin guy says 37 F & 39 R. I realize these figures do not vary greatly, and may depend on my personal preference (softer ride, etc.), but I would really like to have a single figure to ensure the best performance and even wear. I mostly drive city, but do take a few spirited side roads on the long way home, and at least four or five 600 mile R/T road trips per year. I am leaving tomorrow on one for the holidays, so any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Below 100mph: 32 Front, 33 Rear
Over 100mph: 36 Front, 42 Rear
In general, I'd go with a pressure somewhere in the range of the owner's manual that meets your requirements for ride quality, steering response, and fuel economy.

You may be disappointed trying to find one number. However, I'd expect that your manual will call out multiple pressures, depending on loading and maximum speed. I'll give you the one for the 528i, as it is probably the closest to the 530 in weight:
Below 100mph: 32 Front, 33 Rear
Over 100mph: 36 Front, 42 Rear
In general, I'd go with a pressure somewhere in the range of the owner's manual that meets your requirements for ride quality, steering response, and fuel economy.
