#1
I have an 05 545. I got a low coolant light this morning on my way to work. I dont see any leaks, but the dealer is like 50 miles away. Can I use coolant from autozone or pep boys? If so please advise what type, brand would be the best

IIRC, it's about the color (has to do with chemical content/radiator material). There's reddish-orange, and green primarily. My e46 took the orange stuff. It may say in the manual. At least you could top it off until you get to the dealer. Wish I could be more help, but it's been a few years since I've had to add any. GL.

A 50:50 mix of coolant and distilled water should be OK to get you to a BMW dealership.
Apparently you should not use tap water as it could electrolyse in the engine block.
