I am losing coolant in mt 05 545i-I have checked resv and hoses. Yesterday a big puddle under the car/about 1 pint or more. No clue what area it is coming from. I topped it off this am and ran it with heat on and no leaks. Possible overflow hose-the eng compt is clean. Thanks for any ideas.

It's a bitch to try to find out where a small leak is.

Probable a hose leak or a loose radiator outlet screw, but never heard about it here.

If you can't locate the leak, best would be to take your car to the dealers.

It could also be a defected valve gasket or thermostat, but those should be recognized
by the engine overheating.

Incidentally I too had the notorious coolant leak a few months back . It turned out to be the
rubber seal on the Temperature sensor hooked on the lower radiator hose. It was fixed by a $2 faucet washer pack from Home Depot. But I did end up changing the Lower hose with the OEM from the Stealershisp.
It is really hard to see the leak happening from the Temp sensor , so I ended up changing the Hose first to realize that the leak was really from the washer around the Temp sensor.
Hope this helps.
