I will say those little suckers are easy to spring off and fly around and get hidden. I've spent some time finding them myself.

I've been there too. I got smart and put a catch pan underneath it, because if it falls into the dark crevice of the engine bay, you might as well forget about it.

Thanks for looking out for me. I drove my 2003 Nissan Altima 3.5L to the junkyard to get it.

I might think twice about it the next time. I just had both my knees replace this past year and it was a nightmare to get up and down.

10mm socket. I lost a stubby flashlight in mine. I eventually retrieved it, it was still on the whole time so I saw where it was, but getting to it was a whole other story.

Now what?
When I first began to take off the water pump I wanted to check my turbos as well, but after getting into the job I decided that taken off the subframe was not something I wanted to do in 30 degree weather. I did remove the Control arms and the sway bar before changing my mind. I did not want to get into removing the tie Rods and axles.
Coming into work this morning my Car did not do too well taken a curve. Scared the heck out of me because it wanted to keep right on going into the emergency lane. Guess a trip to Goodyear is in my schedule for this afternoon. Let them look at it and make sure everything is tightened down properly. i was expecting her to hug those curves like she usually does but dang, i about lost it into the wall.

I lost the flashlight in the bottom of the engine bay, not the fan area. Removing the under-carriage cover was not an issue, it fell onto a metal panel under there. I didn't have my car up on a lift, it wasn't even jacked up either. I finally was able to reach it.
