This may be a stupid question, but I am getting a coolant level low indicator right now. I went to top off the coolant level, but how do you read that dang float thingy? There is a bulge on it near the middle of it. Do you fill until that bulge aligns to something? Thanks.

Sorry I can't help on where to top it off but I got a coolant low warning message and took my car in to have it inspected and it turns out I have a leak and need $400 worth of repairs. Unless you haven't had any maintenance done in a long time your coolant level should not be low unless something is wrong or leaking.

Same thing here, ended up needing a new water pump. As for the floaty, I followed the little diagram and filled till it was level.

Until what was level? The bulge mark on the float? Level with what?

I think the diagram shows the bulge on the float is level with the top of the tank. Is that correct?

this is somewhat correct. not the tank per say, but the top of the filler where the cap screws on. just try not to let the bubble on stem go any higher than the top of the filler hole. good luck

tip # 1, don't work on your car in the dark with inadequate lighting.

ok, after i threw a little light on the situation and was able to see the markings on the top of the tank, it's like you said, the bump/bubble on the float stem should not go any higher (max level) than the top of the filler hole/entrance.

i topped off the coolant and all is well. thanks!
