i'd stay away...
+3, no way man, unless you are leasing it. Those things never have more then 1/8th of a tank of gas. I can't imagine that's too good for the entire fuel system over the length of it's loaner service.... and I tend to see them inadequately equipped. Maybe premium/cold, but that's about it if you're looking for other options. Personally though, I drive them as if they were my own. Good luck in your decision.

How do you drive loaners or rental cars? I wouldn't touch it. 2 cents.
I'm pretty good with loners but not always, I floor them here and there but I also floor my own car once in a while too... If I had the choice... I wouldnt buy a loaner...

Thanks for the opinions.

That shirt sums up rather nicely what that little voice inside my head keep saying
The market is full of 5-series in great shape at very low prices right now. There's just no need to compromise. Keep searching and you'll find just what you're looking for in no time. GL

i took a car that was previously driven by a BWM employee. i get all the perks of a brand new car for 14 thousand dollars less. call it what you want, but i will call it smart.

If you really think a few thousand miles of abuse will really hurt these vehicles, you shouldnt be driving them.

All of you that bought your cars used have no room to talk.

I say it's risky...

I would pass unless it came with a sweet warranty plan.

That's exactly what I'm looking for.

My dealer currently has a 528i with sports pkg and other basic options that was driven by an employee.

Exterior/Interior colors aren't quite what we want so we are holding out hoping to find a very good CPO 535i w/sport, other options are just gravy. Love those seats!!

Thanks again for all comments. I'll be a BMW owner yet, it just may take a while!

These forums have great info!

That's actually not bad compared to a loaner, driven by an employee means they had it for longer term so how long and how hard can you beat on a car? The driver will get tired of it soon if not getting tired of going to the gas station all the time...

For loaners you get it for a day or two so driving it hard and experimenting on them is much more likely than with a car that you drive everyday...

Can you compare a car that was used for 15-30k miles as a loaner to a one-owner used car? I think if you know the car was a single owner and serviced at the dealership you purchased it from you would have a much higher confidence in that car then you would with a loaner that was driven by who knows how many people.

Well, i can't really agree with you guys from my own experience. Maybe it is just my dealership, they dont give 5 series loaner cars to anybody who drives a shitty ass base 3 series or 1 series, 5 series are mostly loaned to those ppl who have 7 series (or maybe M5). I guess 7 series are more like mature drivers instead of boy racers correct? Cuz i never abuse my loaner, sure, I floor it once in while, but i do that to my own car as well. So loaner car shouldnt be a issue here as long as it is still under warranty and mint condition

just because you have a forum of loaner abusing enthusiasts doesnt mean that everyone that drove that car beat the hell out of it.

i am going to tell you right now, a car that i drove for 30K miles will have endured far more abuse then a car mostly loaned to post menopausal housewives that turned their 745 in for an oil change.
