Jaycal3: Not all cars have the aux-in jack installed in their car. The jack is what people are talking about in this thread. I need to install one in my '04 545i as well. I believe you are talking about the patch cable.

Sorry for the confusion... bottom line is I love this addition to my car. The sound is amazing and from what I was told, it was the only option for me with a 2004 545i - something to do with the fiber optics...
i also had my 545 done. but im i the only one with very low sound quality and hardly no bass??? what can be done to fix this issue.

A patch cable is the cable between the source device (ipod) and the wiring device (aux-in socket). You are "patching" the two (devices) together to make a complete system (circuit).
To use another example. The cable between you desk top computer and the RJ45 wall socket is a patch cable.

Guys just couple of questions.
We recently bought a 530i that has the IPOD integration kit that's in the glove box and is controlled by the i-drive.
Wife has Sprint EVO phone that has been paired with the system and it works great. The question is,if she wants to listen to the recordings on her phone (uses it at school ) or the small microphone that she usually records the lectures on,how does she connects that to the I-Drive ? The car does have an AUX input on the center console facing the rear seats,so is that where she plugs the phone/micrphone in ? Would she be able to control it with the I-drive ?
Thanks.

untape
cut apart and remove the inline resistors
put wires back together...perferably solder
make sure no wires touch each other and are well protected and reinstall.
