So I was driving home today in my 06 530xi, I was on the left lane on the highway and someone just cut right in front of me. I had downshift the car and hit the breaks to avoid a fender bender. As soon as I try to put the car back to the high gear again I completely lost my acceleration....try all different gear but nothing works. Had to pull over and called road side assistance, dunno what the heck is going on...
A friend of mine called a Mechanic for me today and he said it has something to do with the Gas I put in the car this morning. I was at 76 gas station this morning, put in 3/4 tank of premium (92). My friend told me 76 is the worst around area. I used to live in Texas and just moved to West Washington State. The Mechanic said something about a fuel cut or lock, I really dunno what's going...
Does anyone have a similar experience?
btw I had a 6 speed, not automatic

Bah! That's bullshit. If that were _truly_ the case you wouldn't have been able to drive anywhere on the tank when you filled up. The fuel cut/lock only occurs when a vehicle has a sudden impact - like in a crash.

When you pulled over, did you try "turning it off and on again?" Sometimes if it's a sensor, it will reset on the next 'start up.'

yea wasn't sure what he was talking about
But when I came to a stop I took the key out and waited for a bit then try to start the car
The Battery is fine but when the I was looking at the RPM and it jumps a bit ups and downs above 0, not sure how to describe the sound but I think it came from the starter

My old E38 740 decided to die just as I pulled out from a road end, I caused a tail back with the occupants of a fire engine all looking extremely p!ssed. Mine turned out to be the fuel pump, the funny thing is i told the AA guy that I thought it was this. He spent a couple of hours diagnosing then concluding the fuel pump had died, he could get it to start by hitting it with a rubber malllet but it died after a second or two.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

I try to shift to all gear after I stop the car but no sound or anything
They are still checking on my today and they will have an answer for me tomorrow...at least that's what they said
