just out of interest why should we order lumbar support with the sports seat.
I've got a uk stock 530d M Sport? coming next week and this had been specified with the lumbar support option which I thought was kind of odd but reading this it sounds like it's a pretty common option.

On long trips people with sensitive lowerbacks appreciate being able to inflate the lower part of the back rest. Personally I dont have it but have driven an E60 that did and I have to say that I found it pretty useful.

I can agree that the comfort seats are more comfortable but I think the sport seats looks cooler

Thanks everyone.

I went to a dealer today and sat in an 04 545 with sport seats and a new 550 with comfort seats. I can't believe how comfortable the comfort seats were and how well they can hold your back in - if anything I don't think I will miss the thigh bolsters on the sports seats - and I do remember my leg falling asleep on my old 540 with sports seats. My only worry is falling asleep in the comfort seats while driving!

Anyway, needless to say I've changed my order and I'm out ANOTHER $1,200. The complaint here is that I know I wil not get my money back on Comfort Access OR Comfort Seats when I go to sell the car.

IMO, the comfort seats are perfectly acceptable for sporty driving. And, the sports seats are plenty comfortable. So, for me, there are two issues. Do I want the extra comfort/adjustability of the comfort seats, or do I want the lightness of the sport seats? I have the comfort seats and really like them. But, since the Mindy-Candy 545i is on a weight-reduction program, on second thought, I might have opted for the sport seats.

My car is coming with sport seat..Picking her up on Saturday! Should I bring flowers with me?

It really is such a personal fit for your body type etc. The best thing to do is to sit in both. I drove the car with Comfort Seats and it was really really nice.

When I sat in the Sport seats, I kept thinking about whether they would work or not. I never had that question in the Comfort seats.

I'm 6'2" so when I sit in the car, I have to put the seat all the way back and tilt it down somewhat. Getting out of the car with the Sports seats was a bit of a hassle. It reminded me of getting in and out of a Corvette, great once you get there, but a bit of a process doing it.

I plunked down the extra $1200. It was a no brainer for me given how much time I'll spend in the car and how long I'll keep it.

Great. Yes, flowers are totally appropriate. Maybe a little bubbly and some soft music too.

I had a similar debate, until I finally sat in a 5 w/ the Comfort seats. Just for the additional adjustabilty alone they are worth it, but now w/ nearly 6k miles on my 4 month old 545i, I cant imagine having anything less. Bottom line, if you want to have more comfort in your sport seat, get 'em, you wont be sorry!!
