Comfort Seats' Headrest Wings INOP
Hello,
I recently noticed that both headrest "wings" on driver/passenger seats are not staying in place once you angle them to support your neck. Does anyone know how these work internally or have tried to fix them? Picture below shows the position they should stay in and while mine can be adjusted to this position but spring back immediately and don't stay in place. https://5series.net/forums/attachmen...8-p1020445.jpg Thanks! |
Bringing this back up from the dead, in case someone knows anything about this. |

Nope, not mine; simply found the picture to illustrate the issue. Bet it’s a European model and not even a wagon.
And no, still haven’t found a solution to the problem, hence the bump. |
I just retrofitted some comfort seats into my E60 and ran into the same issue. Has anyone figured this out yet?

I’ve given up and drive the car as is without the headrest wings. If you find a cure, do post it here please.

I ended up taking apart the passenger side and made up a fix. I’ll write up a detailed post with pics and post it here when I get a chance. I have the pre-lci seats with the smaller wings, but it should be the same for the newer LCI style headrests. BMW used a foam rubber type ring to hold the wings in place with friction. I simply removed the cover and cut a small piece of vacuum hose to put in place of the foam ring. It works perfectly. |
That would be great! I would love to fix mine.
