My system acts erratic as well.

A good percentage of the time it'll work the way it's supposed to but every once in a while I'll have to play around with the door for it to close or open.

On a few occasions it stopped responding altogether forcing me to use the key remote and I couldn't explain why.

I changed my battery about 1 month ago and the problems persist occasionally but I live with it. I have new battery and no tints and the key was reprogrammed by the dealer recently...go figure!?

Remember that the locking sensor is not on the key hole, but it's to the left of it.
See P.41 in user manual
It locks and unlocks perfectly fine for me.
Exactly. Mine works perfectly on any door handle I touch, as long as I touch the proper area...

The locking feature of my ca system is crap.

I got tired of looking like an idiot poking at the door handles so I just use the fob. Unlocking when pulling the handles works like a champ.
With CA, is the driver's door the only one that you can lock the car from?

If I touch position 2 so that my finger is also slightly touching the metal face of the "lock" (where the key can be inserted), I get 100% success on locking.

Nope, you can lock it by touching the proper spot on all four doors.

Edit: See Robert's cut and paste from the manual above.

And Rudy, no go on the other doors for locking. The same sporadic response to touch on all four doors...

So you're saying that you don't have problems with the unlocking but you do with the locking?

Bingo. There are occasions where if I grab a handle to unlock and it doesn't work the first time but the vast majoritry of the time it does. Locking however is much more hit or miss. I just went down to my car to get my laptop out and used the passenger side front door and it did lock this time. But it doesn't work often enough that I have simply gotten into the habit of using the key fob to lock the car.

I have a similar problem. I don't think I've ever had success locking the car from any door, but the driver's...I am touching the #3 spot as in the above picture.

I am glad to see the tink tank running!!

I have tried using my other key but the problem is the same. I need a range booster for my CA aerial I think. What could I use?
